About us
Haki Nawiri Afrika is an initiative formed by Kenya based activists in collaboration with university students from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Haki Nawiri as an idea was formulated in 2019.
The organization’s mission is to advance social justice in marginalised communities and among university students. Haki Nawiri’s Afrika’s vision is a world where every person enjoys their rights to their rights to the fullest irrespective of social class.
Membership to Haki Nawiri is both at individual level and organizational level.
Our Pillars
Food Justice
This involves political and technical education of the food production process from soil, seed, care for crops and harvest. The pillar further involves training smallholder food producers on agro-ecology. The pillar is also implemented in Indigenous Peoples territories.
Climate Justice
This is documenting experiences of communities impacted by climate crisis, engagement in policy advocacy and building community resilience to climate change through agro-ecology trainings.
Policy Advocacy
This pillar addresses policy for meaningful engagement of communities , human rights education , land rights and legal rights.
Gender Justice
This pillar addresses power relations and creates space for meaningful engagement of communities , human rights education , land rights and legal rights.
Youth Engagement
Youth engagement pillar involves working with young people including in schools and out of school youth. The activities in this pillar are: human rights education, child rights and child protection, legal rights awareness.
What We Do
Food Justice
Our organisation recognises the negative impacts of climate change on vulnerable groups in Kenya and Africa and at the same time is aware of the technical nature of available information on climate change.
Climate Justice
This is implemented through utilising political and technical education on the entire food production process from soil to seeds, care for crops, harvest and post-harvest. The organisation promotes smallholder farmers’ organising.

Gender Justice
The organisation through various forums champions for equal opportunities for all genders as well as equal treatment before the law and in service provision. We sensitize the youth and the community at large on gender justuce.
Youth Engagement
The organization engages university students, in school and out of school youth on social justice through Haki Clubs, Student-Police dialogues, Psychosocial Support and resilience building sesions among other programs.
